Picture Framing Services
The commitment by Picturecraft of Holt to provide a quality service also extends to the provision of ready-made frames which can be purchased off-the-shelf in popular sizes. Their willingness to resolve any bespoke framing project is equally matched with an enthusiastic understanding of framing materials. Affordable solutions can be found to enable ingenious and imaginative presentations, including overseeing highly complex issues.
WOODEN MOULDINGS

The framing workshops immediately adjoin the showroom where over 250 differing styles of wooden mouldings are held in stock. The styles, colours and specifications of such an extensive range of mouldings has been specifically chosen to meet most needs. However, established links with picture frame manufacturers throughout the UK can significantly increase the availability and can be ordered on request.
MOUNTBOARD

To enable customers endless combinations, over 150 shades of mountboard are held in stock. These include various mountboard thicknesses in the lighter tones including those specifically manufactured to meet conservation and museum standards. Modern hand-operated mount cutting machines ensure single, double, triple or multi-aperture bevelled mounts can be cut accurately and precisely for each bespoke framing order.
GLASS

The increased popularity of speciality glass with greater clarity, anti-reflection benefits and built-in UV protection has been significantly addressed by Picturecraft and now matches their stockholding of standard float glass. An additional service is to provide bespoke cut-to-size silvered sheet or bevelled mirrors which are available in recognised standard sizes.
BACKING BOARD

The importance of protection against acid damage is provided behind artwork being framed with barrier boards. MDF remains an ideal finishing surface in the majority of framing projects and is stocked in its improved ‘smooth-both-sides’ specification and precision cut on modern machinery.
DRY-MOUNTING AND HEAT-SEALING

The complexities and irreversible process of dry-mounting and heat-sealing is a subject demanding of very careful consideration. A full and detailed insight into the procedure will be provided to customers whenever the question arises where there is a need to bond an item onto a high quality board before being framed.
FRAMING ACCESSORIES

An incredibly comprehensive range of sundries, accessories and fittings are available with advice and guidance to help resolve all the necessities for D.I.Y. framing projects and to successfully overcome any picture hanging issues. The interconnecting artists’ material showroom is also a valuable resource to obtain paints and materials for touching in frames.
READY-MADE FRAMES

A fine collection of ‘off-the-shelf’ picture frames are available in differing colours and styles in both imperial and metric sizes. These prove extremely cost effective solutions to professionally address last-minute framing projects. Furthermore, Picturecraft of Holt uses discontinued lines and random offcuts of moulding to make one-off frames with glass and MDF backing boards which are incredibly popular for their diversity.
